Latest Global Data Manager checks backups

The latest version of Global Data Manager from Veritas Software has been enhanced to manage and monitor the backup and data recovery processes carried out by the companies NetBackup and Backup Exec applications.

End users are presented with a dashboard of the backup process across the entire enterprise.

Robert Maness, the senior director of product marketing at Veritas said of the new application: "Organisations are under increasing pressure to protect the critical data that lies near the edge of the corporate network, such as servers in remote branch offices." As a result this application will be important for Australia and its branch office economy.

Global Data Manager supports NetBackup working on AIX, Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX, Sun's Solaris, Linux and Windows operating environments.

At present only US dollar costs are available, with Global Data Manager costing US$5,000.
