Brocade has 58 per cent of the switch market

A report released today states that Brocade has control over 58 per cent of the worldwide Fibre Channel switch market.

The report form the Dell'Oro Group shows that Brocade increased its revenue in the market by 19 per cent. Brocade launched a new Fibre Channel switch into the market in April last year. The new SilkWorm 12000 Core Fabric Switch enabled Brocade to grow its 2 Gigabit per second modular market share from zero, to 44 per cent of the market. This growth took place in just nine months.

Brocade estimate that it has shipped 100,000 SilkWorm 12000 ports and it claims to have maintained number one in the Fibre Channel switch market with a 79 per cent growth in revenue share in 2002.

"When we announced the SilkWorm 12000 our goal was to rapidly penetrate the market for Director class switches. We are pleased to have hit our goal," said Johnny Jones, the Australian regional sales director for the US company.
