IBM to Host Virtual Expo

By Nathan Statz

Month Date, 2008: Hot on the heels of the IBM-Linden Labs private Second Life server announcement comes more virtual news from Big Blue, this time that they’ll be hosting an entirely virtual Life Sciences expo.

In the business world, the mention of ‘Conference and Expo’ dredges up images of the local convention centre or fancy hotel draped in corporate sponsorship banners and stands trumpeting the latest and greatest innovations in the industry. Big blue plans to have all of these features, only they’ll be entirely simulated as part of their virtual Life Sciences expo.

"Because the conference is 100 percent virtual, attendees can experience the expo from the comfort of their own desks, saving their businesses significant travel expenses and getting right to the industry information and solutions they seek free of charge," said David Turek, Vice President Deep Computing.

Attendee's will be able to interact with the on-line learning features and immerse themselves in live chat with representatives at exhibition booths, information sessions and vendor presentations.
