DiData offers email management through KVS deal

Service company Dimension Data has boosted its email and content archiving offering with a partnership with KVS.

The service provider will intregrate KVS's Enterprise Vault email and content archiving into its service portfolio. Dimension Data claim the partnership means the outsourcer can offer its clients a means of addressing storage, retention and management requirements with email messaging systems.

Enterprise Vault provides features such as automatic, policy driven Mailbox and Public Folder archiving, PST import, and mandatory mail retention. The product supports Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 5.5 on Windows 2000 and NT V4 platforms.

KVS's Enterprise Vault is the latest addition to Dimension Data's Application Networks business. Application Networks are enhanced infrastructures based on new architectures, which involve open standards and distributed applications, tightly coupled with intelligent networks. Dimension Data claim that Application Networks is focused on removing the silos that have evolved in corporate networks, developing a series of abstraction layers that operate as common platforms and services for all business applications and systems.

On the partnership, Gerard Florian, chief technology officer, Dimension Data Australia said: "Dimension Data currently supports enterprise email with our maintenance and application response monitoring services, Uptime and Insite. Our partnership with KVS represents additional support for this critical business application."

Greg Bowden, national business manager, Dimension Data Australia, said: "When people speak about 'mission critical' applications, we often don't think of email - but can you imagine no email for 48 hours? Email and messaging information needs to be treated in the same way as other types of corporate data - to be part of an organisation's overall storage strategy and architecture."
