Acronis Releases Speedy Exchange Backup and Recovery

October 2, 2008: Storage management and disaster recovery software provider Acronis has announced that it is shipping recovery software for Microsoft Exchange, saying it offers fast backups & recoveries for mission-critical mail servers.

Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange is a backup and recovery software program specifically designed to provide fast, cost-effective and flexible options for protecting Microsoft Exchange installations.

According to Acronis, Flexibility=Fast Recovery and as not all failures are created equal, restoration procedures for a particular problem in an Exchange database will vary depending on what caused the problem.

The company says that with its solution IT administrators can recover specific e-mail messages or mailboxes using a granular (brick- level) restore, restore to the point of failure, which means not having to completely re-install Exchange and recover to a specific point in time, such as the last known working state.

Because of its ability to back up and restore individual e-mails, files, folders and mailboxes and not the entire Exchange application, Acronis says that restorations are also faster and the backup files smaller.

“There is one common thread that unites every business in the world - small or large - and that is the absolute need for e-mail to work, all the time. A company that cannot communicate with its partners and customers won't be in business very long,” said Alain Gentilhomme, vice president of product management at Acronis.

“Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange acknowledges the absolute importance of e-mail in any company and has features that are specifically designed to make restoring an Exchange server fast and painless.”

Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange is available now for a suggested list price of US$999 (AU$1,260) per server, and US$399 (AU$500) for Microsoft Small Business Server.
