Super Talent Debuts 512GB SSD

April 13, 2009: It wasn’t that long ago that 16 and 32GB SSDs were considered capacious for the technology, however, it is evolving rapidly and Super Talent has now become the first vendor to make a 512GB 2.5” SSD commercially available.

The Flash storage and DRAM memory module manufacturer has announced that it is now shipping its MasterDrive RX family of Solid State Drives (SSDs) in capacities of 128, 256 and 512GB.

The company says that its drives feature specialised RAIDSSD technology that enables them to achieve extremely fast sequential read and write speeds, particularly considering each is rated for a maximum sequential read speed of 230MB/sec and a maximum sequential write speed of 160MB/sec.

“The MasterDrive RX is the latest product utilising our patented RAIDSSD Technology,” said Jeremy Werner, senior product marketing manager at Super Talent. “From a performance standpoint it's like having two SSDs in the space of one, and it extends our standard 2.5" SATA-II product line to include a 512GB SSD.”
