Fujitsu unveils ScanSnap iX500 desktop scanner

Fujitsu Australia has announced the ScanSnap iX500 which features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity to give the ability to scan directly to Android and iOS compatible devices.

Available for PC and Mac users, it offers faster scanning speeds, a new advanced document feed system, a customisable Quick Menu, and functionality allowing users to easily scan to cloud-based services such as Evernote, Google Docs, Dropbox, SugarSync and Salesforce.

Users can instantly scan and transmit PDF or JPEG files, such as contracts, receipts, bills, invoices and business cards, to their mobile devices without the use of a computer.

A free “ScanSnap Connect” app for mobile devices or tablets can be used to control scans and transfer scanned documents to a mobile device or cloud service. The “ScanSnap Connect” app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or iTunes App Store and can be used with Android compatible tablets and smartphones running OS 2.22 and both the iPad and iPhone running iOS 4.3 or later.

The iX500 can create PDF files at speeds of up to 25 double-sided colour pages per minute (300dpi, color) -- 25 percent faster than its predecessor. It uses “Separation Roller” technology to minimise paper jams and multi-feeds.

The Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 is available now for RRP of $A699 (ex GST) through Fujitsu authorized resellers.
