Toshiba launches the erasable MFP

A multi-function printer that uses an erasable toner to allow the same sheet of paper to be reused up to five times has been launched by Toshiba.

Where a document print is absolutely necessary, the Toshiba e-STUDIO306LP multifunction and RD30 erasing device can subsequently scan and archive the document to network file or USB before the paper is erased and reused.

The e-STUDIO306LP incorporates a low heat fuser system , fast warm up and first copy out times, colour scanning, and print speeds of 30 pages per minute.

“With the e-STUDIO306LP/RD30 we can now offer our environment-conscious customers an innovative system, which helps them reduce their carbon footprint”, says Garry Pendleton, National Marketing Manager at Toshiba.

“The reuse of paper has a considerable impact on the overall CO2 emissions. Our customers now have the possibility to use less paper for the same document volume. By combining the requirements of modern offices with the need to be responsible citizens, this new system bridges the gap between reducing and recycling paper.”

The e-STUDIORD30 Paper Reusing Device “de-colourises” the output by applying heat to the thermally sensitive toner causing the colour to disappear. There is no waste toner collection, or removal of the toner, as it is simply erased.

After scanning the original printout, the e-STUDIORD30 conducts another scan to  ensure all content is erased. Reusable paper is returned to the upper of two paper collection bins, while the bottom bin is for paper that could not be fully erased, such as copies marked-up with pen or pencil, so this paper can be recycled conventionally.
