Speedscan Expands With Purchase Of MicroView
July 3rd, 2006: Demand for outsourced imaging drives industry veteran to expand its reach with a major purchase for the region.
Speedscan - known in the United States as Data Impact - builds on what managing director, Mark Josman told IDM today is the, "growing consolidation in the imaging market today".
MicroView, which has been operating in Australia since 1981, provides a range of services including scanning and data entry, computer output to laser disc (COLD), document destruction and mail management.
Josman explained the reasons underlying the purchase to IDM, "MicroView is a good, established company with a strong client base. Following the merger with Data Impact in March, we have more plans to expand both organically and with purchases of this kind of quality. Expect more such expansion within the year.
"We are seeing strong growth in the imaging area, especially from large organisations. Document management is just not core to businesses, and we can offer a full solution from imaging and capture all the way through to our data centres which are providing central data repositories - with high security levels - we are seeing a great deal demand here".
The environment enabling this growth is one of end-user demand and education. According to Josman, "Ten years ago, I was having to tell people how to scan a piece of paper, today clients are coming to me and asking for content to be scanned and made ready for the web. There is a clear understanding that making your information accessible conveniently and quickly provides a clear business advantage."
Josman concluded by outlining the four key areas that the expanded Speedscan identifies as the key drivers for organisations to digitise, "Disaster Recovery, legal compliance, remote access to documents - especially for branch offices - and infrastructure costs".
