Backing up your laptop files is fast becoming like an unfinished home renovation project, you know you should do it but it keeps getting put off. SanDisk might not be able to finish your extensions, but they have come out with a nifty new SD memory card adapter that will do the backing up for you.

The FlashBack adapter will fit into the express card slot which is standard for the latest generation of laptops and will continuously backup and encrypt your data onto the flash card. The software allows you to choose how much and how often you want to backup and allows for the restoration of individual files and folders as well as a complete backup.

“This is a ‘set it and forget it’ solution for every laptop user with an ExpressCard slot who wants to be protected from unintended data loss,” said Matthijs Hutten, senior product marketing manager, SanDisk.

The FlashBack allows you to keep several backups by inserting SD cards into the adapter and with their ever increasing size it becomes a feasible method of backup for a single laptop, until they come in multiple terabyte sizes though don’t expect to see flash adapters replace your traditional backup drives for servers.
