Kodak has integrated its digital science document archive writer with Captiva Software’s InputAccel.
Document management software InputAccel, from Captiva Software, now supports Kodak’s Digital Science Document Archive Writer (DAW). Kodak and Captiva claimed this integration will help customers streamline information archival processes.
According to the vendors, users will be able to transform paper documents into electronic data, extract information and convert this into a usable format. This data can then be integrated into the organisation’s enterprise systems.
Through this integration, Kodak’s scanner customers can capture and deliver documents directly into the DAW. The DAW preserves digital documents by rapidly converting them to an analogue format and writing the digitally enhanced images to archive storage media (microfilm).
There are four ways through which InputAccel interacts with the DAW. First, using the Standard Export module, customers can transfer image and index information into a file system, which can be imported by the DAW. Second, through the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), Export module customers can use InputAccel to import the location of the scanned image into a database or any content management system. Third, customised InputAccel Watch utility customers who need an application specific to their requirements can use a customised version of the InputAccel Watch utility. Finally, customised DAW integration customers can create their own integration to the DAW.In addition to these modules, Kodak and Captiva claim that any option can be modified to suit customer needs.
ÒInputAccel enables Kodak’s customers to streamline their business processes through shorter scan processing time, more efficient information search and retrieval and reduced dedicated resources to manage the archiving processes,” said Jim Vickers, chief marketing officer of Captiva Software.
