Convergent Group puts GIS data in document solution

Convergent Group Asia-Pacific has announced the integration of gdsData Manager with the Cimage DM-Netproduct. This integration enables users to view, edit and launch geographically referenced information from within document management job folders via corporate intranet systems.

Organisations have previously been largely unable to gain direct access to spatial information from document management systems, however, Convergent Group Asia-Pacific's (CGAP) integration uses Web-enabled document management to provide access to geographic information system (GIS) information enterprise wide.

This web-enabled DMS enables GIS information to be accessed enterprise wide.

The integrated document management solution enables organisations such as utilities, government authorities and construction companies to store spatial information as part of a job folder, and follow the history and alterations to a job on their network.

"This system will improve operational efficiency, enhance customer service, and facilitate innovation/development information by making the information available through one interface," said CGAP's business development manager Patrick Burke.

gdsData Manager enables users to pass spatial queries and retrieve results from a remote spatial data management server on either the Internet or intranet environments using an Internet browser. Users pass these queries using HTML query forms, whose results can be displayed graphically on the Internet browser using a display viewer.

This integrated document management solution enables companies to store spatial information as part of a job folder, and to follow the history and alterations on their network or to external assets.
