Recall takes AP automation global for ABB

April 29, 2009:Brambles subsidiary Recall has been chosen to implement a global scanning and digitising solution supporting the accounts payable process forAsea Brown Boveri (ABB), the Swiss-Swedish leader in power and automation technologies.

ABB's Shared Accounting Services organisation, of which Accounts Payable is a large part, operates in more than 30 countries and ABB processes approximately five million supplier invoices every year.

All invoices will be scanned locally and sent to Recall in Sweden where the latest technologies in optical character recognition (OCR) and intelligent character recognition (ICR) are in use. This will allow for local flexibility in terms of the invoice information needed by each country, and reduce ABB's administration costs and payment time cycle.

All local scanning will be done according to Recall's global standard operating procedures, and the company expects to reduce the need for transporting several tons of paper per year.

"Recall provided us with an innovative and flexible solution that brings value to ABB's Shared Accounting Services organization and customers," said Martin Stauffer, Head of Shared Accounting at ABB."This, combined with Recall's security practices, global footprint and business improvement processes, led us to the decision to enter a cooperation with Recall."
