INUVIO launches card scanning "revolution"

US company INUVIO claims to have developed a revolutionary new product that resolves the traditional template issue with all card scanning OCR (Optical Character Recognition) solutions on the market today.

Called ScanOCR it includes patent pending Local Templating functionality. The company says ScanOCR doesn’t image information like text, but “reads” it and provides editable data to other computer applications.

The data can be used to auto-populate fields in PM (Practice Management), EHR (Electronic Health Record), or any other document management software or database.

For OCR to work the software must know the difference between the various words on a scanned card or document and what do with them. For example which group of letters or “word” is a name versus a street versus a city, etc.  To do this OCR applications use maps or “templates” of known cards which layout the locations of important information.  When cards change and templates don’t exist, OCR doesn’t work.

“Our patent pending Local Templating offers the first solution to the problem of constantly changing driver’s license and insurance cards. Our product allows you to quickly and easily match fields and create a map or “template” of any unknown or new card or document.  Once a new template is created that item will OCR without issue going forward.  You only have to template it the first time you see it. It’s truly revolutionary”, said Dr. Daniel J. Moulton, founder and CEO, INUVIO.

It allows end users to match fields on any scanned item and third-party software integrators to create custom data fields and custom document types as needed.

ScanOCR supports Windows XP, Server, Vista, and 7 (32/64 Bit) systems and is patent pending under U.S. Patent Application No. 61/617,829.

“This is not a standalone product and it requires software integration with one of our PM (Practice Management), EHR (Electronic Health Records), CRM (Customer Relations Managment) or other third-party system partners”, stated David Miller, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, INUVIO.
