Nuance boosts Hyland OnBase for health ECM

Nuance Communications has partnered with Hyland Software to enable eCopy ShareScan to scan directly into Hyland Software’s OnBase enterprise content management (ECM) system, enabling healthcare organisations to optimise distributed document capture.

“When doctors and other healthcare professionals need to access patient data, they want the process to be as simple and comprehensive as possible,” said Susan deCathelineau, vice president of healthcare sales and services at Hyland Software.

“One of the primary benefits of OnBase is the ability to access data – whether captured through eCopy ShareScan or entered via another method – directly from the patient record in the electronic health record (EHR). With OnBase integrations for leading EHR platforms, the information from scanned documents captured by eCopy ShareScan immediately appears in the EHR along with the rest of a patient’s information, greatly accelerating information access.”

The eCopy ShareScan OnBase Connector enables healthcare facilities to use existing MFPs and scanners at or near the point of care. With a few simple button presses, documents can be scanned and indexed by eCopy to the correct patient record in OnBase for final verification in centralised OnBase workflows – giving clinicians almost instant access to paper-based information.

The eCopy ShareScan application runs directly on the touch panel of the market’s leading MFP vendors including Canon, HP, Xerox, Ricoh and Konica Minolta turning these devices into secure onramps to OnBase workflows

“The certified integration between eCopy ShareScan and OnBase streamlines document imaging across a variety of distributed entry points through centralized document workflows and reduces delays or issues related to information contained within patient records,” said Michael Rich, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Document Imaging.
