DTA releases new digital ‘building blocks’

The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has announced three new products for Australian government agencies developing online services. This includes a redesigned dta.gov.au web site, an Australian Government Design System, and a refreshed Digital Guides that will provide support to meet the Digital Service Standard.

The DTA says the guides are based on user research with teams across government and input from digital specialists.

“More than 40 agencies brought their expertise and provided feedback to the content strategy tools and resources,” it announced in a press release which also called for feedback on these tools to shape future versions.

DTA has redesigned the dta.gov.au web site including menu and site structure after finding that more than half of those visiting were having problems finding what they wanted

DTA has also released a design system to help designers and developers deliver sites and services quickly and efficiently. The Design System provides a framework and a set of tools to help designers and developers build government products and services more easily. It is a catalogue of code and detailed components that designers and developers can use to avoid reinventing the wheel on websites and digital services.

Through this system and cloud.gov.au , a secure cloud-based platform for hosting website applications, DTA aims to make it easier to deliver services quickly.
