Fuji Xerox Australia has unveiled new document handling software for small and medium sized businesses, DocuWorks 8, providing a portal to documents held on a local network or in Working Folder, Fuji Xerox’s cloud storage solution.

Microsoft Office files, image files and PDFs are displayed on screen in the same window, with the ability to bind or unbind documents and add comments and revisions. 

The DocuWorks interface is able to mimic the way people have worked in the past with physical documents, for instance combining documents and images in ‘folders’ then placing these in ‘trays’. An Office add-in provides direct access to DocuWorks 8 from within applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

A lightweight viewer is available for iPhone/iPad and Android devices to provide the same view on mobile devices. DocuWorks files can also be edited on these devices with the Annotation function.

There is a choice of 56-bit, 128-bit and 256-bit password authorisation, along with parameters to prohibit printing and editing for unauthorised users.

It also includes an OCR capability to convert scanned documents into editable format for reuse,” he said.

DocuWorks 8 also integrates with Fuji Xerox multifunction devices to streamline document scanning and digitisation. Working Folder, Fuji Xerox’s cloud storage solution, is integrated with Fuji-Xerox’s new Apeos 5 Series MFDs
