June 18, 2007: The Victorian Department of Education has awarded LogicaCMG a major contract to design and implement an electronic document management system (EDMS) for regulatory compliance and improved workflow.

Off the back of a one year long procurement process, the Department will now replace is RecFind records management system with Open Text’s Livelink ECM eDocs suite at their head office in Melbourne.

The Department is chasing improved document version control and security, while also looking to ensure the Open Text system seamlessly integrates with their Microsoft Office applications suite.

On the security front, the Department is looking to enable specific access privileges to be assigned to individuals viewing executive documents. In order to improve workflow, the solution will also work to reduce document duplication, promote consistency and streamline records administration.

LogicaCMG will incorporate existing processes at the Department into the Open Text system, originally rolling out the system across 200 users and then extending this out to a further 1,800 users in the next three years.

For LogicaCMG and Open Text, the deal complements a range of Government wins over the last 12 months including a whole-of-government contract with the Queensland Government and an enterprise-wide document and records management system for both Melbourne Metropolitan Fire and the Emergency Services Board.
