CA Scores Top Points for Records Management

March 19, 2007: Forrester Research has named records management software developer CA as top dog in its latest "Forrester Wave: Records Management, Q1 2007" report.

CA was among nine companies examined in the report, which looked over 12 different products and rated them according to 135 different criteria. CA came out trumps for both its "Current Offering" and "Strategy", and also racked up top scores in areas such as physical records management, reporting and monitoring, record formats, and user experience.

The report is quite a boon for the company, particularly when it mentions CA’s MDY software, calling it “a leader in records management because it provides a framework for federated RM along with many packaged integrations to other repositories, strong physical RM capabilities, flexible user interface options and native content analytics.”

Next to this, CA’s FileSurf was also singled out due to it having “more packaged integrations with other repositories than any other RM product.”

“FileSurf began life as a physical RM product and evolved into one that manages both physical and electronic records from a single console,” stated Forrester in the report. “This kind of centralized management pays dividends down the road when organizations conduct internal investigations or respond to discovery requests in litigation.”

“Federated records management is a must-have technology for organisations that have information distributed across diverse platforms and applications—yet must still somehow fulfil an ever-growing list of governance, risk and compliance requirements,” said Galina Datskovsky, senior vice president of storage management at CA. “We are proud that Forrester has named CA a leader, and we will continue to help our customers meet these critical business challenges.”
