Coveo Wrangles 1 Billion Documents

June 4, 2008: Search-powered information access solution provider Coveo Solutions has announced that its enterprise search platform has achieved new levels of speed and scalability, and can now index and manage archives of up to a billion documents.

The company says the system’s underlying G2B Information Access Suite framework enables millions of documents do be indexed per hour, and hundreds of millions of within a few days.

This enables the solution to hit upwards of a billion documents within a few weeks of indexing, pushing information search and access solutions to new heights.

To get such indexing speeds, the company cites a project it conducted with HP earlier this year. The firm tested the scalability of its software using HP BladeSystem server blades with AMD Opteron processors. Coupled with HP’s StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array the solution indexed a mix of standard Office, PDF, HTML and XML documents, achieving millions of documents per hour.

“[Our] software further reduces the amount of time required for customers to access the information they need to drive business,” said Laurent Simoneau, Coveo’s president and CEO. “This project is yet another example of our continued commitment to uncompromised performance for today’s businesses.”
