Sybase Knocks PowerDesigner Up A Notch

February 10, 2006: Enterprise infrastructure provider Sybase has released version 12 of its modelling and design software, PowerDesigner, which it says enables enterprises to re-engineer business applications with greater consistency, speed and cost-effectiveness.

The company says PowerDesigner includes many new features to help enterprises to visualise, analyse and manipulate processes and data through features such as metadata mapping, integration technologies for enterprise architecture and a more powerful report generator.

“Sybase PowerDesigner users are able to connect all the metadata and optimise Business and IT alignment.” says Dimitri Volkmann, worldwide PowerDesigner product line director for Sybase.  “As an enterprise modelling tool, PowerDesigner allows business and IT professionals to map out the dependencies between the business and IT development, enabling quicker, more predictable and more accurate responses to business changes.”

Sybase also claim that the new version allows for greater levels of compliance through automatic standards and practices enforcement, and has support for the latest standards such as UML 2.0, business process modelling notation (BPMN) and the latest relational database management system (RDBMS).

PowerDesigner 12.0 is available now with a price range of $4,043 to $10,118 per seat ex GST.
