Plasmon Releases New SMB Archiving Appliance

June 14, 2007: Archiving system specialist Plasmon has announced the launch of its new Archive Appliance Express, aimed specifically at small to medium-sized medical businesses.

Plasmon says that SMBs in the medical market are more vulnerable than normal as they can’t afford to invest heavily in IT resources. At the same time though, they have the same compliance and storage needs as larger organisations.

The company says it has been collaborating with integrators in the medical field to ensure the Archive Appliance Express is compatible with Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS), and claims the it enables easy management of growing archive demands, requirements and constraints of medical businesses without the complexity and cost of an enterprise-level product.

“SMBs want products that require very little manipulation. However, these organisations collect and store critical data and they must deal with the same compliance requirements as their counterparts in larger medical businesses,” said Mike Koclanes, Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Plasmon.

“By reducing complexity while maintaining the system reliability and data permanence, the Archive Appliance Express will help medical customers address IT challenges while improving their operating performance.”
