BridgeHead Unifies PACS Data

May 29, 2008: In the interests of bringing together and optimising PACS images, BridgeHead Software has launched a new tool called PACStore.

The software collects Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) images into a common searchable archive, helping healthcare organisations reduce both the amount of storage required, and the management complexities created by the long term retention and protection of PACS medical image data.

PACStore lets clinicians search across stored medical images from different proprietary PACS systems using a search system based on the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) standard, which is used by most PACS vendors.

“With PACS image studies getting bigger and more sophisticated, there’s mounting pressure on the resources required to store and protect the underlying data,” said Charles Mallio, Director of Business Development - Healthcare Sector, for BridgeHead Software.

“Our PACStore software brings relief by making sure storage resources are used in the most optimal way.”
