Alphawest boost IM portfolio with PowerPlus buy

Alphawest has announced that it has acquired the Information Management business from PowerPlus, a Queensland-based Knowledge Management and Information Management solutions provider.

As part of the acquisition, Alphawest has additionally acquired PowerPlus clients and staff from the Knowledge Management and Information Management side of the business only.

This acquisition is yet another strategic move for Alphawest, following its successful management buy-out late in 2002, further demonstrating that the company is heading in the right direction, coming as it does hot on the heels of securing a contract to provide the Victorian Department of Justice with an Electronic Document Management System.

PowerPlus also has a proprietary software development, sales and service business that is distinct from the Information Management business, and it will continue to operate this independently from Alphawest. Alphawest has also agreed to become a national reseller of its workflow product.

"Alphawest as a partner, not simply another technology supplier, ensures that we continually assess the levels of our expertise and the value our solutions deliver to our clients," said Steve McNally, Director of Sales and Marketing, Alphawest.

McNally said that the company's customer-centric Information Management strategy, bolstered by this new acquisition, will see it delivering increased services and products to the Queensland community.

PowerPlus director, John Hardgrave added: "PowerPlus is pleased to join a successful Australian owned business with a national focus on delivering Information Management solutions. PowerPlus customers will see the benefits of partnering with an organisation like Alphawest that can offer end-to-end solutions as a sub-set of Information Management solutions.

“Our commitment to working with the government and commercial sectors is totally supported through Alphawest's strategic relationships with vendors including Hummingbird, Tower Software, HandySoft, iManage, Sun Microsystems and FileNet."
