Network Appliance a NAS leader

Meta Group has released its latest MetaspectrumSM analysis of the network attached storage market and has placed Network Appliance as the leader.

In the analysis, Meta Group evaluated network attached storage from leading vendors in the market, including Auspex, EMC, Hewlett\-Packard (HP), IBM, Network Appliance and Veritas. The analysis looked at the company's vision and strategy, its channel partners, the market awareness and their reputation, their geographic coverage, the business drivers, industry focus, technology offered, services, pricing, execution and financials.

Meta Group placed Network Appliance (NetApp) as the leader and recognised Network Appliance for its ability to innovate and its technological developments. Particular credit went to Network Appliance's investment in to the storage area network (SAN) market with the FAS900 and the recent channel deal with Hitachi Data Systems (HDS).

Harry Christian, the marketing manager for the Australian branch office of Network Appliance described the report as "important recognition", adding "With our recently announced ability to offer users a combined NAS and SAN solution, users find us an increasingly attractive option."
