PaperHost enhances on-line document indexing

December 3, 2008: PaperHost has added OCR technology to its online document management software, phINDEX.

New rapid OCR technology allows the user to view un-indexed documents online and simply point to text that is to become a lookup value for the document. No keying or correcting is required, users can just point and shoot to lift text into the appropriate index field.

Now, all types of documents can be scanned, uploaded and indexed using the PaperHost web-based suite of applications in a completely secure environment.

The benefit to the PaperHost customer is a significant reduction in the cost of managing document libraries. Using the Visioneer One-Touch software with Kofax VRS, the user can scan documents with excellent image quality.

One-Touch hands off the image to the PaperHost phCONNECT utility for safe and encrypted uploading to PaperHost. Document indexing is managed on-line using phINDEX from anywhere in the world. phINDEX offers the user all of the power and control found in other world class batch document indexing tools; but now, it can be done on-line and on demand.

Once the documents are indexed, they are immediately available for search, retrieval and viewing in PaperHost.
