Top Image Systems (TIS) has filed for a patent regarding mobile capture capabilities for capture and analysis of full page/A4 forms, as employed in its MobiFLOW mobile capture and processing platform.

The developer of the eFlow enterprise capture suite claims existing solutions base mobile capture of pages on snapshots from the mobile device camera. It says the images produced by this method are not of high enough quality to enable further processing of the document and automatic extraction of the information.

The TIS method employs an image capturing process that allows stitching of images to create a mosaic image of a document ready for text analysis and indexing.

TIS is using this technology to enhance its Mobile Capture offering beyond Remote Deposit Capture (MobiCHECK) and bill payments (MobiPAY), to allow a mobile device to effectively capture and analyse full page forms – such as insurance claims or healthcare forms.
