Citrix spreads ShareFile net

Citrix Systems is adding SharePoint integration features to its cloud-based storage platform ShareFile.

It has introduced Connectors for SharePoint and network drives, as well as the ability to utilise Microsoft Windows Azure in addition to Amazon S3.

The new ShareFile StorageZone Connectors do not require the additional step of migrating or syncing SharePoint and network drives data for mobile access.

ShareFile also includes a built-in mobile content editor, which supports standard SharePoint functions like check-out, edit and check-in from mobile devices.

“Navigating existing firewalls and integrating with legacy systems and applications remain huge hurdles for true enterprise mobility,” said Alan Pelz-Sharpe, Research Director, 451 Research.

“Solutions like ShareFile StorageZone Connectors that integrate seamlessly with existing systems and applications are the way to go.”

Data can be stored in Citrix-managed or private clouds.

Jesse Lipson, VP and GM, Data Sharing, Citrix, said "“Striking the balance between mobility and security is a perennial challenge for enterprises. The new innovations from Citrix give users the power of mobile access to their data while giving IT the absolute flexibility to choose how sensitive data is stored, accessed and shared."
