FileBound has announce the release of Version 7 of its FileBound Express appliance for Cloud and Onsite document management.

I was fortunate enough to attend Microsoft’s World Wide Partner Conference (WPC) in Washington DC last week and I have to say what a great experience it was and a refreshing view of what a Microsoft conference can be.

Extracting value from (Big) Data requires the right tools for extraction. In the pursuit of this value, large enterprises and administrations have spent very large sums of money on tools for data analysis and business intelligence. But these tools, mature as they are, can only tackle about 10% to 20% of the data most companies deal with today: structured data. They only address the structured data from enterprise applications pulled together in data warehouses and online analytical tools, including ERP, CRM, SCM, etc.

Most organisations do not realise that they can automatically extract information and value from text. Typically, they employ humans to do this manually, or worse, they ignore text altogether. Lexmark’s Perceptive Software has announced the release of Perceptive Cloud Share, a cloud solution for sharing and collaboration with enterprise social content, including rich media.

At home I am able to plug my toaster into the wall, pop in some bread, and focus on what delicious spread I should have on my toast. I don’t have to worry about building and operating power plants to generate and supply electricity for my breakfast. This is what Cloud is doing for organisations – allowing them to focus on outcomes of their core business and purchase technology as a commodity. 

Approximately one month per employee is wasted every year, at a cost of $2 million per annum, as employees struggle to find the right documents in sprawling document libraries. A new software called docScout from Australian developer Holocentric, promises to help organisations using Microsoft SharePoint reclaim this lost time by enabling them to find the right document every time.  

SharePoint solutions vendor AvePoint has launched a new tool to allow business users can search, edit, share, and collaborate on Box and SharePoint content seamlessly.
