US firm acquires Core Medical Solutions

The Australian developer of the BOSSnet clinical information system, Core Medical Solutions (CMS), has been acquired by US health IT giant Allscripts.

Allscripts is one of the world’s largest public companies focused exclusively on healthcare information technology (HIT).

According to an announcement, all local CMS staff will be retained, joining a global Allscripts workforce of nearly 7,000 people.

Core Medical Solutions (CMS) will continue as a local subsidiary and co-founders, Dr. Rohan Ward and Dr. Marc Belej, said they are both excited about being incorporated into a tier-one, award winning HIT vendor that is one of the most innovative companies of its kind in the world.

The BOSSnet clinical information system is currently being rolled out across the Grampians Rural Health Alliance (GRHA) in Victoria.

More than 100 hospitals across Australia, including some of the country’s largest, now rely on BOSSnet. CMS Managing Director Dr Rohan Ward said that BOSSnet was installed by Ballarat Health Services in 2009 and has steadily increased its footprint in the region.

Victoria’s largest not-for-profit privately owned healthcare organisation, Epworth Healthcare, has completed a major rollout of the BOSSnet Digital Medical Record including implementation of e-forms and deployment 25+ Kodak document scanners across the 8 Epworth hospitals.
