Interwoven Scores DoD Certification

April 2, 2007: Interwoven has announced that its unified Records Manager physical and electronic content management system has been certified by the US Department of Defense.

The DoD 5015.2 standard is endorsed by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and is viewed as a benchmark for government and corporate organisations that manage classified records and documents.

Awarded to Interwoven Records Manager on March 13 this year, the certification is a boon for the company as according to the analysts at Gartner Research, enterprises should use the DoD 5015.2 standard as a key requirement when acquiring any records management product, that is along with consideration of local standards.

“Achieving 5015.2 compliance for our Records Management solution is a significant milestone,” said Rafiq Mohammadi, chief technology officer at Interwoven. “With today's regulatory climate, organisations face significant challenges on how to address the incorporation of electronic and physical files, especially email, as part of their records policy.”

To receive the DoD certification, Interwoven had to pass 147 mandatory requirements, provide the infrastructure for a corporate file plan that includes all forms of electronic and physical documents, and provide a retention plan that incorporates both time- and event-driven disposition instructions.
