Australian based distributor, Resource Options, will launch a new flexible records management system from Canada later this month that makes it easy to keep track of documents and media from creation to destruction via a Web browser.

The OmniRIM(r) modular software suite, from OmniRIM Solutions Inc., is a single enterprise system for active file management, inactive records management, and retention schedule development.

The technology is customisable and can be adjusted to meet the exact needs of each customer. For instance, there are 80 user-defined fields and these field names can be changed to fit in with in-house terminology.

A user-friendly interface is applied to manage and track all files, boxes, documents and other media. The 'homescreen' design allows users to search, request, run reports, generate labels and do most of the work from this one screen. Large amounts of records can accommodated without straining the network.

This Web functionality allows users to administer, add, edit, update, transfer, request and search for information online and to easily transfer between offices.

It is especially aimed at public services, pharmaceuticals, financial services, insurance, real estate, and property management, higher education, telecommunications, oil and gas and natural resources, utilities, and transportation.

Jenny Hale, the Resource Options Managing Director, said that it helps organisations meet their important compliance and accountability requirements.

OmniRIM(r) is available in four editions: Workgroup, Professional, Enterprise (in web-based or 32-bit Windows(r) versions) and Hosted. Each one includes the active file management module (for managing and tracking active files, documents and physical media while active in departments); the records management module (for managing inactive or archived files in records centres); and the classification and retention module (for managing file plans and business rules for records retention).
