DocuShare 6.6.1 checks in

Fuji Xerox Australia has announced the launch of DocuShare 6.6.1, the latest update to its  Web-based content management software that allows organisations to capture, manage and share its document assets through a central database.

DocuShare 6.6.1 offers new editions to suit specific types of organisations. DocuShare Express is an affordable document management solution designed  for smaller workgroups to simplify their document management processes by converting paper documents to digital.

DocuShare Education is specially configured for educational institutions, and offers features for the specific requirements of schools, colleges and universities. It is priced to suit the budgets of education facilities, and is only available to educational institutions.

DocuShare (standard edition) provides content management, collaboration, and image capture capabilities to support ad hoc information sharing for small and medium-sized businesses.

New features include:

- DocuShare Lifecycle Manager, which notifies document administrators that documents need to be updated, or that they do not meet compliance standards. Documents can be destroyed or archived when retention settings expire.

- Content Rules and Workflows. These expand rules and permissions for document collections so attachments and authentication processes can be added and adapted for tasks such as invoice and claims processing, and case management. Workflows can be integrated with DocuShare add-ons to create a complete solution.  

- Integration with SharePoint. This lets users access DocuShare content and search for content simultaneously. Users now have the ability to browse documents and manage them, as well as build collections and workspaces.

Administrators can set access, authoring and viewing parameters to suit any kind of content.

DocuShare 6.6.1 also provides a history of document use, so users can see document changes, and be assured that they are working with the latest version of any document. Document check-out and check-in keeps tabs of work in progress with full version control.

DocuShare 6.6.1 also offers optional integration with familiar desktop programs such as Microsoft Windows and Office applications. 

The DocuShare Email Agent can be used with email applications so users can share email content by sending messages and attachments to DocuShare collections, workspaces, and other users, and groups.
