Sigma Data Imports in TRIM

Australian software developer Sigma Data has updated the user interface for Imports in TRIM, its solution for bulk uploading from shared drives into the HP TRIM EDRMS, among a range of improvements in an updated version.

The new version includes support for importing folders as well as documents, to recreate the share drive structure as accurately as possible.

A metadata mapping feature caters for customised fields within TRIM. Many attributes can be combined and mapped to a single TRIM field - for example the filename, date modified and fixed string can all be combined to form the title of the imported record.

Acknowledging the difficulty of weaning users from their shared and hard drives,  Imports in TRIM allows users to continue making changes in the shared drive, then when Imports is run again all the changed documents are updated in TRIM as new revisions. Newly created documents are also imported.

For documents being imported the following attributes can to be specified:

  1. A Record Type;
  2. All HP TRIM attributes including Author, Owners and Additional Fields;
  3. A Container and / or Alternate Container.  Use existing Containers or create new ones while importing documents;
  4. Combine fixed and / or prompted values in attributes;
  5. Containers created using the drive directory structure as a component in the Title, up to 3 levels deep;
  6. Ignore or Version documents reimported if they have changed;
  7. Replace files with TRIM Reference Objects, TR5;

Once created these Templates can be used many times or copied to create new ones.
