Compact Epson document scanner

Epson has announced a new high-speed, compact scanner with one-touch scan-to-cloud capabilities and efficient document routing by scanning directly to email, FTP sites or any computer folder via a network.

The $A549 WorkForce DS-510 is 46% smaller in volume than previous comparable models and offers a 26% smaller footprint.

The software package includes Epson Document Capture Pro that provides colour and image adjustment capabilities, OCR and TWAIN and ISIS drivers.

The Mac or Windows software allows users to immediately scan to popular cloud services including Google Docs, MS SharePoint, and Evernote with one touch, and easily access documents from multiple devices or share with others.

Scanning capabilities include scan, batch separation, editing and data transfer. Users can easily edit jobs by adding, deleting and sorting pages.

By inserting a page separator between batches when scanning, a stack of documents can be saved as separate files or into designated folders automatically.

An optional Network Interface Unit with a PushScan feature supports up to 100 workstations with full scanner functionality.

The WorkForce DS-510 scans at up to 26 ppm/52ipm at 300dpi in colour and can scan both sides of a sheet in just one pass, as well as a stack of up to 50 pages using the built-in Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

The ultrasonic double-feed detection technology senses if more than a single page has been fed and automatically stops the feeding to avoid missing pages or jamming.

Paper handling capabilities include the ability to scan many different sized documents in one single batch, from rigid ID cards and stacks of business cards to documents up to 91cm, plus the ability to scan both sides of folded pages without using a carrier sheet and digitally stitch them together.
