GFI Software aims to plug holes in local government Compliance

Australian local government organisations can benefit from integrated IT solutions which “plug the holes” that exist in meeting their compliance requirements, according to GFI Software, Gold Sponsor of the IT2014 Local Government Information Technology Conference in Coffs Harbour, NSW from 11-14 November.

In a presentation titled, “Real world compliance – Communications and Security for Local Government”, Tristan Haines, Solutions Engineer for GFI Software, will demonstrate how integrated messaging management and IT security solutions also offer an opportunity to increase efficiency, reduce costs and ultimately allow organisations to do more with less.

“Unlike state and federal agencies that adhere to particular standards, local government set their own compliance and security policies,” said Haines.

“While there are common elements, such as the Privacy Act, acceptable use policies for email and Internet – covering downloads, Web browsing, adult content, extremism and violence – vary enormously. As a result many organisations have holes that need to be plugged, whether to enforce current policies or to keep pace with rapid changes in technology.”

Local government organisations face similar challenges with communications.

“Many councils have email, fax or physical mail communications that are not adequately captured in their compliance systems. These organisations can benefit from integrated messaging management solutions that unify their email, fax and snail mail so it can be centrally archived, backed up, searched for and retrieved,” says Haines.
GFI Software offers a range of secure hosted and on-premise solution.
