Kofax keeps 3AW ahead of the law

The Melbourne public’s attitude to law and order is about to be uncovered in detail by radio station 3AW in a major public survey undertaken with the help of local business process outsourcing (BPO) specialists Chandler using Kofax technology.

Chandler CEO Ray Kitchingman told 3AW morning radio show, host Neil Mitchell that the “Law and Order” survey “will be a major undertaking and a significant logistical exercise involving the distribution of a large number of surveys as well as the efficient receipt, data capture and analysis of the completed surveys.

“We will also use our Internet expertise to allow surveys to be completed seamlessly via the web.”

During the month of Septembe 2010r, Chandler will assemble and distribute almost 100,000 mailpacks from its Port Melbourne facility to selected areas throughout the Melbourne metropolitan region.

Each mailpack will contain an introductory letter from Neil Mitchell accompanied by a structured survey form containing 20 questions on law and order. The survey questions will be the result of direct input from 3AW listeners who are heavily engaged in the overall process.

Completed surveys will be received and processed by Chandler’s team. The processing of the mailed surveys will involve forms scanning and the application of OMR technology to efficiently extract data from the forms, ahead of detailed analysis and ultimately the publication of findings. Feedback data received via the web channel will feed seamlessly into this process.

Mitchell explained that, “at the end of this exercise, Melbourne will, for the first time, have a clear picture of what the people of the city really think on law and order”.

Kitchingman said, “the approach we are using will be quite innovative, using the latest technologies and seamlessly combining traditional and web-based channels for the collection of survey data. There are not many organisations in Australia setup to do this type of work, and we are delighted to be assisting 3AW in this initiative”.

Chandler’s Inbound Document platform was previously a suite of bespoke, in-house systems, and several proprietary systems that often duplicated functionality and incurred higher development costs for new projects.

KOFAX was selected following an extensive review of industry leading Document Capture Software solutions. The decision was based on Kofax’s ability to deliver powerful production-level document and data capture that is fast, flexible and scalable allowing Remote Capture and Integration with Workflow and Content Management Applications.

Ray Kitchingman, said,“With this solution, Chandler will continue to strengthen its position as Australia’s innovator in outsourced customer communications. Utilising Kofax will allow our Clients to continue to migrate paper-based documents to electronic formats for processing and records management.

“Kofax allowed us to move to one common platform that ensured we scale-up in the most cost effective and expedient manner, whilst providing the most flexibility and functionality for our clients. Kofax also allows us to tackle our client’s complex workflow-related processes in a straightforward, manageable system.”

Workflows based around application forms, surveys, invoices, correspondence and other paper-based documents will be processed far more quickly with a higher degree of accuracy and have a full electronic audit trail.

“Capture is an important phase in the document life cycle and it is imperative that we enhance our existing capture and processing software engines to provide the greatest flexibility and speed for our Clients.

“20% of our Clients’ essential communications will be delivered electronically, and KOFAX will be another strategic partner in allowing back office functions to expedite the migration to support our target,“ said Kitchingman.
