Nexsan + Data Domain Vs Tape

December 5, 2006: In further fuelling the storage wars, both Nexsan Technologies and Data Domain have formed a partnership for sales, and an alliance in the battle to promote the inferiorities of tape.

Data Domain, provider of enterprise protection storage systems, will finalise the partnership by joining Nexsan’s Strategic Solutions (S2) Program. By providing sales and marketing benefits to strategic partners through the program, Nexsan has already built an extensive partnership with existing partners; Waterford Technologies, Pegasus and Diligent Technologies. It’s a program designed to build on Nexsans place in the market as a supplier of storage solutions and to also allow partners to deliver complete data management solutions.

Nexsan says the partnership with Data Domain will allow customers of the S2 program to receive a complete integrated data protection package carrying the ‘Nexsan Certified’ designation.

By focussing primarily on the enterprise market, Data Domain provides systems for disk backup and network-based disaster recovery. Through the partnership, Data Domains’ DD460g, an enterprise gateway restorer, will gain formal certification with Nexsan’s SATABoy and SATABeast. The combined effort of DD460g alongside the Nexsan systems will allow for a full range of data de-duplication, data invulnerability and remote replication capabilities.

Meanwhile Data Domain backs up Kinkade’s comments by promoting their entry in to the program. “Our complete confidence in the superiority of disk-based backup and recovery solutions is mirrored in the ideals and products of Nexsan Technologies,” says Beth White, vice president of marketing, Data Domain.
