Hitachi Releases New Mid-Range Storage Servers

December 19th, 2006: Hitachi Data Systems has taken the shrink wrapping off a new suite of storage solution for medium sized enterprises saying that it enables better growth management, compliance, backup, recovery and other enterprise class features without the high end price tag.

The company says that mid-sized companies often face the same challenges as large enterprises. Complex environments, expensive solutions, fragmented management tools, unsecured data and unending exponential storage growth are just some of the problems medium sized organisations are susceptible to.

Naturally, Hitachi claims it has the tonic for all these ills, claiming that its storage suite eliminates complexity, protects against and recovers quickly from data corruption and eliminates unreliable data backup procedures. It says its suite offers enterprise-grade data protection, storage consolidation, and improved management of Microsoft Windows and SQL Server environments

The company has given particular focus to ensuring that Microsoft applications co-exist reliably with other platforms, and protecting critical systems from attacks on privacy, security and integrity. When it comes to storage growth, Hitachi is promising to put a stop to the proliferation of servers and centralise data storage from “islands” of underused equipment, streamlining storage management.

“In the face of growing global competition and regulatory compliance, managing IT infrastructure and protecting critical business applications has become a tremendous challenge for most organisations, especially for resource constrained mid-sized companies,” said Karen Sigman, vice president, Global Channels, Hitachi Data Systems. “Hitachi‘s new solutions for the mid-market enable customers to deploy enterprise-class capabilities to easily and cost effectively consolidate their storage, simplify their infrastructures and protect their data assets.”
