BMC Deliver Data Centre Optimisation

Headline

July 19th, 2006: BMC Software has unveiled a data centre optimisation solution aimed at improving IT efficiency and infrastructure.

BMC claims this is the industry’s first data centre solution that integrates and automates the entire planning-to-implementation lifecycle for data centre consolidation and virtualisation projects. The company says this ensures that each configuration change is executed successfully. The solution is aimed at addressing the high cost of running data centres, with a combination of climate control, raised floors and safety mechanisms pushing prices up.

Fred Johannessen, BMC’s vice president and program executive for Capacity Management and Provisioning, said, “Many platform vendors are hyping virtualisation, including server resource provisioning, but most businesses are reluctant to embrace it largely due to the high risk of managing and controlling such complexities. BMC’s pragmatic approach is process oriented, automated, and completely platform-agnostic. As a result, customers feel much more comfortable working with us to address the challenges associated with consolidation, virtualisation and automated resource provisioning”.

The BMC Data Centre Optimisation solution includes BMC Virtualizer 2.5, BMC Performance Assurance 7.3, with both available now. In addition there are workflow integrations with existing BMC solutions available such as BMC Atrium CMDB, BMC Discovery, BMC Change and Configuration Management, and BMC Performance Manager 2.1.
