Interactive Opens Brisbane Data Centre

By Greg McNevin

April 29, 2008: Addressing the increasing shortage of data centre space in Australia, systems availability specialist Interactive has announced the opening of a new eight million dollar data centre and recovery facility in Brisbane.

Located 15 kilometres from the city CBD in the Eight Mile Plains Technology Park, the new 750 square metre data centre took two years to build and promises high-level availability and security.

According to Interactive’s Managing Director Christopher Ride, the facility is cutting edge and sets a new standard in the region.

“Our new facility at Eight Mile Plains is one of the best data-centre operations available in Queensland – perfectly positioned in one of the best technology parks in Australia,” Ride said. “Quality data-centre space is like gold at the moment and Interactive has responded to customer demand by building a leading-edge facility to support them.”

With rising power consumption costs in mind, the new centre incorporates many of the latest green technologies, and operates from a separate power grid to the CBD, making city-wide blackouts a non-issue.

Ride claims the new data centre will increase the company’s ability to provide a comprehensive systems availability solution, particularly in conjunction with its other data centres in Sydney, and its upcoming project in Melbourne.
