Veritas drops Bare Metal, capabilities added to NetBackup

Bare Metal Restore, the disaster recovery application from Veritas is to be dropped, the company said in a statement from its USA headquarters, but the capabilities will be integrated into their NetBackup application and others.

In a company statement, Veritas said it will "focus future product development for Veritas Bare Metal Restore TM disaster recovery technology on the Veritas NetBackup data protection environment."

Mark Bregman, the executive vice president of product operations at Veritas said, "The development focus on integrating these capabilities more closely with Veritas Software products such as NetBackup will allow companies to more easily adopt disaster recovery solutions into their everyday enterprise environments."

The statement added that Veritas will stop selling them as separate products. IDM was unable to contact Veritas, but a spokesperson said the two applications will be integrated into one.

Veritas support for the application will continue until June 15, 2005.
