Auspex, StorageTek bundle hardware

Auspex and StorageTek have cross-certified their respective hardware to provide a disk-based networked storage solution.

Auspex's contribution to the solution is its NSc3000 Network Storage Controller, with StorageTek adding its D-Series disk systems. The NSc3000, and a high-availability version called the NSc3000V, are based on file-serving protocols usually used for network attached storage (NAS), but the products are intended for use in storage area networks (SANs), according to the company.

Specification for the Auspex hardware include projected performance levels in excess of 19,700 IOPS in Unix environments, as well as the ability to support thousands of users simultaneously. The NSc3000 and NSc3000V can provide secure Unix, Windows, Linux and Mac OSX data sharing from a single data image, according to Auspex.
