Rewritable CD gets faster and easier to implement

Hewlett-Packard has recently released a new line of CD drives and software bundles that are suited to a wide range of applications.

All models come with core software titles including Adaptec's Direct CD and Easy CD Creator, and HP's Simple Trax which enables the user to automatically store and index files to be retrieved faster at a later date.

In addition, the 7510e features HP Disaster Recover, which restores hard-drive files and operating systems, and speeds up disaster recovery.

Models include the 7570I internal unit with 24X read, 2X write and 2x re-write speeds; the 7510e external unit, with 6x read, 2x write and 2x re-write speeds; the 8100I internal unit with 24x read, 4x write and 2x re-write speeds; and the 8200I internal unit with 24X read, 4x write and 4x re-write speeds.

The 7570I and 7510e have been introduced to replace HP's previous entry level 7200 series, with some noticeable enhancements such as 24x read speed on the 7570I (up from the present 6x capabilities).

Pricing starts at $599 for the 7570I, $799 for the 7510e, $649 for the 8100I and $799 for the 8200I.
