Prism gains storage strength

Quantum ATL has launched its patented Prism Storage Architecture initiative targeted at the needs of large corporations seeking a cost-effective way of overcoming the limitations of server-attached backup architectures.

Prism is a modular architecture with large-scale integration of data and media management software into tape libraries, creating Network Attached Storage (NAS) for workgroups as well as Storage Area Network (SAN) systems.

Among Prism's features are a set of scalable configurations, attachment methods and a customer service Web portal.

The architecture also acts as a platform for remote network storage management and services, which enable an organisation to evolve beyond locally managed storage peripherals to a centrally managed systems and services.

The Prism architecture has been endorsed by a strategic alliance of more than 20 storage vendors, including Ancor, Brocade, Crossroads Systems, Emulex, IBM Gadzoox, Legato, Network Appliance, Sterling Software and Veritas.
