Enterprise Storage Worth $1.46B by 2012

August 11, 2008: The analysts at IDC are predicting that the worldwide enterprise storage system semiconductor market will grow to US$1.3 (AU$1.46) billion by 2012, offering many opportunities for companies that move quickly.

This level of growth represents a compound annual growth rate of 6.0 percent, creating opportunity for firms and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that move quickly to grab as much of the market as they can.

The company says that if they do not move, they run the risk of being shut out of this lucrative market by enterprise customers

“Unlike markets for networking-related silicon (e.g. Ethernet, xDSL), the storage system market experiences shorter time periods for selection, qualification testing, and installation,” said Aileen Arcilla, senior research analyst for Semiconductors at IDC.

“Semiconductor companies already playing in the slower moving storage mechanism, networking, or telecom markets thus view the market potential for storage system semiconductors as a rare complementary growth driver for their business.”
