Research and Markets Looks Into Storage Crystal Ball

October 30, 2008: The analysts at Research and Markets have announced the release of a new report forecasting the future of storage, with retention, secure and easy access to data, and the increase in demand for data protection and information lifecycle management (ILM) all driving demand for storage software.

Titled "Storage Software, Hardware & Management Services Market 2007-2010 - Bundled Report", the report says that data hardware requirements are doubling every 18 months and the increase of appetite for faster, bigger storage arrays are increasingly growing to keep up with business needs.

Further to this, the report says that digitalisation of content, data protection, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, and long-term data retention are continuing to make positive contributions to storage capacity growth.

Regulatory and compliance obligations such as Sarbanes-Oxley are also pushing sales of storage software and data management suites, as are content-rich business applications in areas such as telecommunications, media/entertainment, and Web 2.0.

Research and Markets says that the demand for storage performance, responsiveness and availability, the increasing value of data, need to backup, budget constraints, and environmental responsibility are all key drivers of storage management services.
