BitMicro Shipping 416GB SSDs

February 16, 2009: BitMicro is now shipping its latest line of 2.5” solid state drives, the E-Disk ATA-133, which is targeted at capacity and performance driven applications.

The company says that the new line is suited to military, aerospace and embedded markets, which include imaging, video-on-demand, database and data recording applications.

The drive makes use of the latest high-density single level cell (SLC) NAND flash memory chips, enabling random I/O rates of up to 20,000/sec, burst rates of up to 133 MB/sec, sustained rates of up to 100 MB/sec, and storage capacities of up to 416 GB.

Furthermore, the E-Disk Altima ATA-133 is even more rugged than your everyday SSD, with an operating temperature ranging from –40°C to +85°C making it ideal deployment in extremely hostile environments according to BitMirco.

"The market availability of the E-Disk Altima SATA solid state drive opens up new and exciting possibilities for the personal and enterprise computing markets," said Rudy Bruce, Executive VP for Marketing and Sales and CMO at BitMicro Networks. “These markets can take advantage of cutting-edge SSD technologies that only an SSD pioneer and long-time industry player such as BitMicro Networks can provide.”
