EMC acquires Isilon Systems

EMC will pay approximately approximately $US2.2 billion to acquire Isilon Systems, a provider of clustered storage systems and related software applications for digital content and unstructured data.

The deal will help EMC boost its storage revenue growth and serve its clients across a wider range of the storage systems market, the company said.

Isilon is one of the innovators in the field of scale-out storage, providing specialised solutions from commodity hardware for high data volume needs such as film and video production, biotechnology and oil and gas exploration.
