Synology launches XS Series NAS servers

Synology has launched its new xs series of NAS servers, including 12-bay DiskStation DS3611xs and 10-bay RackStation RS3411xs/RS3411RPxs for large scale businesses.

Derren Lu, CEO of Synology Inc said, “The xs series NAS servers are designed to scale up both storage capacity and performance in accordance with businesses growth. A single volume is expandable to over 100TB dynamically with expansion units via InfiniBand cables that carry12Gb/s SATA signal to ensure high-bandwidth connectivity. Performance throughput can grow from one 1Gb Ethernet connection to 4Gb Ethernet aggregations or even dual 10Gb Ethernet aggregations.

Equipped with an Intel Core processor, Synology xs-series NAS servers deliver data throughput in excess of 1,000 MB/sec and 100,000 IOPS with link aggregation enabled.

Redundant power supplies are available on the RS3411RPxs and its expansion unit, RX1211RP, to ensure continual service uptime. System reliability is further reinforced by failover support on all network ports, hot-swappable drives design and expandable ECC RAM module.

With comprehensive iSCSI support, the xs series NAS servers integrate with major virtualisation servers, including VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer, and Microsoft Hyper-V.

Synology xs series NAS servers are powered by DiskStation Manager 3.1 (DSM 3.1), the operating system of every Synology DiskStation.
